Corporate Social Responsibility

At VAN AS, we consider corporate social responsibility to be very important. That’s why we don’t stand still and continuously seek innovative development. We are happy to make investments to minimize our carbon footprint as much as possible. In recent years, this has become an increasingly important aspect of our operations. The United Nations has established the Sustainable Development Goals. Currently, VAN AS contributes to the following goals:

  • VAN AS contributes to the good health and well-being of its staff. Various arrangements are in place for employees, and safety is always a top priority.
  • Within our company, gender equality is promoted. There is no discrimination in any form, which helps reduce inequalities.
  • VAN AS uses sustainable energy. Since 2019, solar panels have been installed on the roof, generating 200,000 kWh. VAN AS will use ¾ of this energy. This has a positive impact on climate change, among other things. The printers are equipped with LED UV, which means there is no ozone emission and we use much less electricity. Additionally, all lights have been replaced with LED lighting.
  • VAN AS ensures decent work and economic growth while being conscious of responsible consumption and production. We use an extensively separated waste stream for paper/cardboard, polypropylene, and PVC, allowing for recycling possibilities. Our product range is so diverse that VAN AS offers a sustainable alternative for nearly every product.
  • We are aware of life on land and, therefore, use FSC®-certified paper, for which we hold certification. The license code is FSC-CO21595. Recycled paper is also available. At VAN AS, printing is done according to the standards for “sustainable procurement of printed materials.” This means a printing process without isopropyl alcohol in the dampening solution, inks with reduced volatile substances, and cleaning agents with low volatility. VAN AS ensures that auxiliary materials and raw materials are handled correctly.
  • Peace and fair trade practices are essential to VAN AS, and we always contribute to these goals. Legislation is closely monitored for any changes.
  • VAN AS wants to achieve goals together with customers and suppliers and create a better world. To this end, we have developed a Recycling Pickup Service. POS materials will be collected at a central point, and VAN AS ensures that they are processed correctly in the waste streams so that they can be recycled. We always ask new suppliers to fill out a questionnaire.

In 2024, we were once again awarded a silver medal by EcoVadis!

We are proud of this status and will continue to make every effort in the coming years to further optimize our CSR policy!

The EcoVadis assessment is a step toward a continuous CSR monitoring and improvement process. The goal of the assessment is to gain a clear understanding of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices within four themes: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

The EcoVadis sustainability assessment methodology is central and evaluates how well we at VAN AS have integrated the principles of sustainability/CSR into our business and management systems.

The EcoVadis methodology is based on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000, covering 200 expenditure categories and 160+ countries.

We are constantly searching for new developments to make our company even more sustainable. Therefore, we look not only at activities but also at new types of products. At present, we already offer many sustainable alternatives. These include Static Paper, honeycomb cardboard, and recycled polypropylene (PP). For nearly every product type, a sustainable variant is available. Ask your contact person about the possibilities when making inquiries.
